The restaurant that put up this notice “we served good food” could lose business if customers treated it seriously. Because the notice means that the restaurant served good food before, but not anymore. Surely, that’s not what the restaurant owners meant to say.
Aside from expressing meaning correctly, good grammar is a sign of polish on your part. Bad grammar is as ugly as a slip showing in a woman, or a man picking his teeth in public.
